Support is highly personalized for every student and may vary based on individual student needs. The below timeline represents a typical consulting process, with substantial opportunity for individual tailoring. Most students begin their meetings with Allie in the late spring or early summer. Allie guarantees 5 meetings following the complimentary first session and is available for additional support as desired.

Week 1: Getting to Know You (Complimentary)

Your first meeting is a crash course in getting-to-know-you! At this session, Allie will meet with the student, parent(s), and student and parent(s) together to learn more about your family, academic background, hopes, goals, ambitions, and strengths. This session is held free of charge.

Week 3: Application Strategy and College List Development

The student and Allie will work collaboratively to develop a preliminary college list and determine application strategy. Allie will support the student with researching colleges, assessing ‘fit’, evaluating selectivity, and weighing the relative importance of application components.

Week 5: College List Refinement and Essay Development

As the student further refines and finalizes their college list, attention shifts to the college essay. This is Allie’s favorite part of the process! Support includes topic brainstorming, purpose and prose development, and grammatical revision.

The fourth session will be spent completing all applications necessary for the student’s college list, including the Common Application, Coalition Application, and any institution-specific applications. Allie will also support with the development and review of supplemental writing.

Week 7: Application Completion and Supplement Review

When relevant, Allie will assist in the student’s preparation for college interviews by conducting mock interviews, an area in which she has substantial experience as an alumni interviewer for her undergraduate alma mater. Allie will also collaborate with the family toward completion of financial aid applications and verification where applicable.

Week 9: Interview Preparation and Financial Aid Support

Final Week: Evaluating Offers and College Selection

Congratulations! In the spring, once the student has received their offers of admission, Allie will support the student and their family in comparing financial awards, advising on fit, and ultimately deciding on their post-secondary plan.
